There’s a specific type of lighting I use for my photos, and it’s not achieved by a fancy lamp or light box. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have either of those! But I don’t, so I make due with what I have. What I have is really amazing natural light that comes through my bedroom window, where 90% of my photos are taken. This is a good thing in general, but there are a couple limitations. The best lighting only lasts between 7-7:30pm, and there is only ONE window in my entire house that lets in this kind of light. It just happens to be in the tiniest most cramped corner ever. Basically I have about 2.5 feet of space during a 30 minute period of the day to take amazing photos. So yes, the golden hour for me is a mere golden 30 minutes. If I miss the opportunity I try again the next day. I might try using professional lighting equipment in the future, which would allow a lot more flexibility, but for now I’ll stick with my tiny cramped corner of golden light!
